Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider Debuts with 1,036 HP Hybrid V8

Ferrari N.V. has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the 2027 849 Testarossa Spider, a convertible variant of its flagship performance coupe. The new model brings a retractable roof to the platform while maintaining the aggressive styling and advanced powertrain that define the range-topper.

The open-top supercar draws its power from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged hybrid V8. The engine utilizes the largest turbochargers ever fitted to a Ferrari road car, working in concert with three radial-flux electric motors. Two motors are positioned at the front axle, while a third sits between the engine and the transmission. This setup enables a total system output of 1,036 horsepower, marking a 50-horsepower increase over the brand’s SF90 model.

Energy for the electric motors is stored in a 7.45-kWh battery, which provides an estimated electric-only range of 15 miles. Despite the structural reinforcements required for the convertible variant—which add weight compared to the fixed-roof coupe—the Spider is designed to deliver high-performance capabilities alongside the experience of open-air driving.

Design cues include a prominent front splitter and a wedged profile that distinguish the vehicle visually. The cockpit features a steering wheel with numerous control buttons and enhanced seat adjustments, focusing the driver’s attention on the road ahead. Marketed toward ultra-high-net-worth individuals, the Spider targets the luxury segment where exclusivity and presence are primary purchasing factors.

Ferrari shares were trading up approximately 1.77% on the day, reflecting a market capitalization of roughly $66.17 billion. The stock continues to perform within the consumer cyclical sector.
