GMC Hummer EV Adopts Tesla Charging Port for 2027 Model Year

General Motors has detailed updates for the 2027 GMC Hummer EV, headlined by the integration of a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This hardware change facilitates direct access to the Tesla Supercharger network, a significant shift for the GMC brand aimed at improving charging convenience for owners. The manufacturer noted that the addition of the NACS port does not compromise the vehicle’s vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capabilities.

Beyond the charging infrastructure update, GM is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Hummer H2 with a limited-run variant. The Hummer EV Icon | 25 Edition is restricted to just 250 units and draws aesthetic inspiration from the previous generation. The special edition features a bright yellow exterior paint contrasted by black elements, including the wheels, exterior cladding, mirrors, and roof. It also includes black recovery points and skid plates to enhance its rugged appearance.

Inside, the Icon | 25 Edition receives a Jet Black cabin with unique infotainment graphics and a serialized badge on the dashboard indicating the unit’s number in the limited production run. Buyers will also receive an exclusive keepsake item, though the specific details of this item have not yet been disclosed. This package will be available on both 2X and 3X trim levels of the truck and SUV body styles.

Additional updates for the 2027 model year include the introduction of four new exterior colors: Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, Dark Ridge, and Deep Void Matte. GMC is also offering two new 22-inch wheel designs. The production schedule is set to begin later this year, with the vehicle carrying over its existing powertrain options. The lineup continues to offer up to 1,160 horsepower, enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.8 seconds.

Shares of General Motors are currently trading at $77.60, up 0.52% from the previous close. The company maintains a market capitalization of approximately $69.43 billion. Meanwhile, Tesla shares are trading at $394.31, reflecting a slight decline.
