Toyota Updates 2027 Crown Crossover Styling and Hybrid Power
Toyota Motor Corporation has revealed initial images of the refreshed 2027 Crown Crossover, previewing changes set to officially debut in mid-September. The update addresses specific design critiques from the model’s 2022 introduction while introducing mechanical refinements, including a shift to the automaker’s fifth-generation hybrid technology.
The most significant visual alteration involves the vehicle’s two-tone paint strategy. On the updated model, the black paint section previously concentrated on the roof now extends from the A-pillars back to the D-pillars. This change integrates the roof color with the front bumper, hood, mirrors, and side moldings. Conversely, the rear section of the vehicle switches to a body-colored finish, accompanied by a redesigned bumper and horizontal reflectors. Toyota is also replacing the previous “Black” paint option with a new “Neutral Black” and changing the lower body cladding from unpainted plastic to a Piano Black finish.
Performance specifications are also evolving. Leaked information indicates the Crown Crossover will adopt Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system. This setup utilizes a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine paired with a more potent electric motor, providing an increase of 16 hp (12 kW) over the previous output. Additionally, the RS trim level will now feature red brake calipers as standard equipment.
Interior equipment lists are being adjusted for the new model year. The Cold Weather Package and paddle shifters are expected to become standard across the lineup. Conversely, the emergency spare tire and digital rearview mirror will be removed from the options list. Higher-tier Z and RS trims will gain a digital key as standard, while the smart key fob will transition to a darker Gray Metallic finish.
Shares of Toyota Motor Corporation were trading at $176.75 today, representing a market capitalization of approximately $209.04 billion. The company operates within the Consumer Cyclical sector and the Auto Manufacturers industry.
