Aston Martin Debuts Virtual Military SUV for Call of Duty Franchise

Stellantis N.V. and other major manufacturers have increasingly turned to digital landscapes for brand exposure, but luxury automaker Aston Martin is taking a unique approach by entering the virtual battlefield. The company has unveiled the “Dreadnought,” a concept military SUV designed exclusively for the Call of Duty video game series. While the vehicle exists only within the game’s digital ecosystem, a full-scale physical model is currently on display at Fanatics Fest in New York City.

The concept is described as a fusion of supercar-level performance and military-grade technology. According to the brand’s design team, the Dreadnought integrates advanced armor and adaptive combat intelligence systems. The powertrain is theoretically centered around a V12 engine, maintaining the company’s affinity for high-displacement power. The design language borrows cues from Aston Martin’s heritage, specifically drawing comparisons to the front fascia of the V8 Vantage from the 1970s and 1980s, adapted for a rugged, armored silhouette.

Despite its utilitarian purpose, the interior of the concept features luxury typical of the British marque, including Oxford Tan leather and a herringbone carbon fiber weave. The exterior is finished in a desaturated matte variation of the classic British Racing Green. Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer, stated that the design process involved imagining the vehicle navigating urban environments like New York and Mumbai, aiming to create an Aston Martin aesthetic “amplified without restraint.”

This move marks a significant departure from Aston Martin’s traditional focus on road-going grand tourers and sports cars. While automotive collaborations with video games are common—such as Jeep’s previous partnership with the franchise—a luxury manufacturer creating a fictional military vehicle is an unusual strategy. The initiative highlights a broader trend where automakers explore alternative digital spaces to engage with younger demographics, distinct from the typical SUVs and passenger vehicles that populate their real-world lineups.

What to watch

  • Upcoming second-quarter financial results from Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings.
  • Fanatics Fest public reaction to the full-scale Dreadnought model.
  • Future brand integration details within the Call of Duty ecosystem.
