Render Imagines Sporty GR Crown Sedan Based on BMW M5 Dimensions

An independent designer has reimagined the Toyota Motor Corporation Crown as a high-performance, rear-wheel-drive sports sedan, proposing a niche that the automaker has not yet pursued. While Toyota restricts the current Crown sedan primarily to the Japanese market, this concept transforms the vehicle into a potential contender for performance-oriented buyers in the United States.

Created by designer Theottle, the render utilizes the chassis of the current Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft M5 as a base. The designer noted that the physical dimensions of the standard Crown closely align with those of the BMW M5, making it a suitable foundation for the hypothetical project. The result is a sleek coupe-like silhouette that diverges significantly from the styling of the production Crown available in Japan.

The visual modifications include a completely redesigned front fascia featuring sharper, more aggressive headlights and a new grille splitter. The concept also incorporates revised air intakes and side skirts that flow upward toward the rear quarter panels. At the back, the render showcases a small lip spoiler, darkened taillights, and a blacked-out bumper, all elements that would fit well within Toyota’s GR (Gazoo Racing) or TRD performance catalogs.

While Toyota has not announced plans for a sports sedan of this nature, the render suggests that such a model could theoretically utilize the company’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Currently, Toyota’s stock is trading at $178.20, down 0.87% from the previous close, while shares of BMW stand at $58.64, up 0.48% today.
