Tesla Celebrates First Anniversary of Hollywood Supercharger Diner
Tesla, Inc. is marking the first anniversary of its Hollywood Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard with a July 21 celebration. The event is set to feature a Cybercab display, Optimus robot interactions, and a limited run of birthday hats signed by Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen for the first 50 in-car orders placed at midnight.
The location, which opened a year ago to long queues, represents a concept CEO Elon Musk has discussed since 2018, described as a blend of retro drive-in aesthetics and futuristic technology. Beyond the nostalgia and menu items, the site serves as a functional testing ground for a vehicle-centric ordering model. Drivers place food directly through their vehicle touchscreens, a system designed to integrate with the company’s autonomous driving ambitions.
This infrastructure aligns with Tesla’s broader strategy for its Cybercab and unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) rollout. As robotaxis begin operating in major cities, the diner model offers a blueprint for automated commerce where vehicles initiate transactions without passenger input. Musk has previously indicated that the Hollywood location serves as a proof of concept; if successful, the company intends to replicate the model along Supercharger corridors and in urban centers globally.
Monday’s event schedule includes roller-skating servers, a photo booth, a light show, and a DJ, alongside the display of Tesla’s latest hardware. The gathering underscores the company’s commitment to expanding physical infrastructure that supports both charging and future autonomous services.
