Development is underway at Ferrari N.V. for a more aggressive version of its V12 flagship coupe. Recent spy photography from Maranello shows a heavily camouflaged prototype based on the 12Cilindri, signaling that the Italian automaker is preparing a higher-performance variant likely to arrive next year.

While the exact name remains speculative, the prototype exhibits significant aerodynamic enhancements aimed at improving cooling and downforce. The front fascia features widened intake openings in the center and on the sides of the bumper, a necessary modification to feed additional air to the naturally aspirated V12 engine under higher loads. The profile view reveals a more prominent ducktail spoiler, though the side skirts appear to carry over from the standard model. At the rear, the diffuser remains largely obscured by camouflage but maintains the massive proportions of the current car.

Ferrari has a history of applying historic designations to its hardcore track-focused coupes, such as GTO, tdf, and LM. It is currently unclear whether the manufacturer will revive a moniker from its archives or opt for a modern nomenclature like Speciale for this new derivative. The continued development of the V12 platform underscores the company’s commitment to internal combustion heritage even as the industry shifts toward electrification.
