Australian tyre inquiry sets out 12 recommendations for circular economy reform

A parliamentary inquiry into Australia’s tyre industry has proposed reforms ranging from mandatory producer stewardship and retreading support to tighter waste export controls and greater use of recycled tyre materials – measures with relevance for manufacturers and suppliers serving the market and for other countries reviewing end-of-life tyre policy. The House Standing Committee on Industry, Innovation and Science tabled its report, When the rubber hits the road: inquiry into the Australian tyre industry, on 15 October 2026.
