Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome Looks Sleek but Isn’t for America

October 19, 2026 · by APW Pipeline
  • The Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome highlights the sport compact’s performance by toning down some of its more extroverted styling details.
  • The new Monochrome edition comes in two trims; both have Alcantara interior bits, but the Upper Trim adds carbon-fiber exterior add-ons.
  • Monochrome variants will only be sold in Korea, Canada, and Australia to start, but while Hyundai isn’t selling it in the United States, that could change.

If the Hyundai Elantra N’s traditional blue-and-red color scheme is its everyday casual outfit, the new Monochrome edition is outfitted for a classy night on the town. Monochromatic details replace the compact performance sedan’s typical styling to bring more attention to its silhouette, materials, and performance capabilities.

Hyundai

By toning down visual distraction, Hyundai says the Monochrome version reflects the “understated yet undeniable” essence of Hyundai’s N performance brand. Fancy, eh? On the outside, the special edition sports new black forged wheels and black or body-colored details that simplify the car’s leading lines across the front and rear bumpers, side sills, brake calipers, and the rear diffuser.

The Monochrome variant is offered in two exterior colors. Abyss Black Pearl pushes the monochrome mantra to the extreme with an all-black exterior, while Performance Blue pairs stripped-down black accents with the N brand’s iconic blue hue. Its trim options also arrive as a pair, with the Upper Trim adding carbon-fiber mirror caps and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler to the Base Trim’s package.

Inside, black Alcantara lines the cabin in both trims. The steering wheel, which was specially designed for the Monochrome edition, is wrapped in Alcantara and features black buttons for a performance-focused experience. The entirely black interior is subtly broken up by bright blue stitching and a shift-knob accent stripe.

The Elantra N Monochrome isn’t slated to reach our shores—at least not yet. It’ll begin its launch in Korea this month, followed by releases in Canada and Australia. However, Hyundai says it plans to expand the Monochrome edition into other global markets in the future. The automaker did a similar launch with the Elantra N TCR Edition, which started as a limited release before it eventually reached the United States earlier this year. So, while we’re not yet in Monochrome territory, we’re hopeful it’ll join Hyundai’s U.S. lineup at some point.
