2027 Ford Ranger Models Will Get The Raptor’s Turbo V6

The 2027 Bronco reportedly won’t be alone in ditching Ford’s familiar twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 in favor of its more powerful 3.0-liter mill. Just days after it was announced that the Bronco Outer Banks, Badlands, Heritage, and Filson models will get a detuned version of the Raptor’s engine, the Ranger is expected to follow suit.
The flagship Ranger Raptor is currently the only mid-size Ford pickup with its twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. It delivers 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, slightly shy of the Bronco Raptor’s 418 hp and 440 lb-ft, but plenty of power for a vehicle like this. Ford Authority understands that the forthcoming 2027 Ranger’s XLT and Lariat models will be available with the 3.0-liter and will drop the 2.7-liter as an option.
There’s no word on how much Ford will detune this engine for these less performance-focused Ranger models. It’s possible this engine could be added to the Ranger in the same state of tune as the 2027 Bronco, where it delivers 380 hp and 440 lb-ft. The only potential issue with this scenario is that it would give these models a 10 lb-ft advantage over the Raptor, which doesn’t make much sense, so we think it may be de-tuned slightly more than in the Bronco.
The 2027 F-150 gives us an idea of what Ford may choose to do. The full-size pickup is also available with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6, which Ford has capped at 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, matching the old 2.7-liter.
What other changes has Ford made for 2027?

An order guide shared online by Autoevolution this week reveals several other updates have been developed for the 2027 Raptor. For example, there are new 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheels available on models including the XL, XLT, and Lariat, along with tweaked front grilles. Ford has added a new shade of Neptune Blue to the Ranger family and ditched Carbonized Gray (shown above) and Velocity Blue. The same guide lists newly available rocker rails with hoop steps and states the black Ford oval badge has been ditched in favor of a more traditional blue one.
Ford has also updated Co-Pilot360 technology, the Ranger’s interior, and added several new packages. In terms of safety tech, intersection assist and lane keeping system are standard on the XL, while the XLT now gets the Co-Pilot360 technology as standard. The XL launches standard with a 12-inch infotainment display and dual-zone climate control. A Bronze Appearance Package, Bronze Appearance Graphics Delete, Black Appearance Graphics Delete, and Luxury Package are new as well.
