Innovation, education, engagement – Continental celebrates Manufacturer of the Year Award

Continental Tyres said its Manufacturer of the Year 2026 Tyre Industry Award recognises its holistic commitment to innovation, customer care, and industry excellence. The company won the award during the 15 October NTDA Annual Dinner and Awards.
In the last year, Continental accelerated its innovation drive across passenger car, commercial vehicle, and specialty tyre portfolios. High-profile product launches include the ultra-high-performance SportContact 7 Force, engineered specifically for the Brabus Bodo supercar, alongside the adaptable EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S lines. In the bus and coach segment, development centred on the sustainable Urban HA5 NXT.
Knowledge sharing and technical training have been equally prominent. Responding to widespread industry concerns regarding commercial vehicle wheel security, Continental bolstered its specialist training provision with dedicated modules, aiding technicians and fleet managers in reducing operational risk and enhancing maintenance standards.
Educational initiatives extended to broad consumer-facing campaigns. A 12-part ‘Scott Says’ social media series tackled everyday motorist queries, while the ‘Respect for Retreads’ campaign worked to dispel common misconceptions surrounding remanufactured tyres.
Internally, workforce engagement remained a key priority. Senior leaders conducted a three-week roadshow across 10 UK sites to connect directly with personnel, backed by structured wellbeing and safety initiatives and staff social events.
Reflecting on the manufacturer’s holistic progress, Tracey Mortimer, managing director of Continental in the UK and Ireland, noted: “This is a huge achievement for Continental and reflective of the time, energy and commitment that our teams invest at all of our sites around the country. Together, we strive to provide people with the safety and performance they deserve for their vehicles, while also standing alongside our customers with help, guidance and support to ensure we are adding value to their business.”
The award joined personal recognition of Mortimer with the Chairman’s Award and technical services general manager Steve Howat’s induction as NTDA Honorary Life Member.
