UPG celebrates long-service milestones for procurement team

Universal Components Group (UPG) is celebrating major career milestones for two key members of its procurement department, highlighting the expertise and dedication underpinning its automotive aftermarket operations. Procurement manager Ant Pickering marks 15 years since returning to the business, having originally joined in 2000 before progressing through warehouse and internal sales roles. After returning in 2011, Pickering advanced into procurement management, navigating increased automation and a rapidly expanding supplier network.

“I truly believe I have the best procurement team any company could have,” said Pickering. “While I support them, they also support me… There are always new challenges ahead, so here’s to the next 15 years at UPG.”

Senior procurement assistant Sarah Pugh is celebrating two decades with the company, having joined in 2006. Over 20 years, Pugh has seen shipping and logistics grow increasingly complex while supporting the business through key depot developments and brand transitions. Beyond her day-to-day role, she has actively represented UPG in community initiatives, including ten years of volunteering for charity partner Barretstown.

“I am proud to have been here for 20 years. It is a big achievement, and I hope to be here for many more,” Pugh commented, noting the strong team culture as a key factor in her longevity.

Recognising their contributions, alongside colleague Jimmy Oldfield, who also reaches the 15-year mark, UPG director Martin Butterworth praised the trio: “Ant and Sarah’s stories show what long service brings to a business: knowledge built over many years, strong relationships and a willingness to support others… In an aftermarket that continues to evolve, their experience helps us adapt while maintaining the service our customers rely on.”
