2027 Subaru Outback Gets New Base Model, Dropping Price by $1905

October 22, 2026 · by APW Pipeline
  • For 2027, Subaru has given the Outback a new base model that starts at $34,540, lowering the entry price for the mid-size SUV by $1905.
  • Several other trims also get price cuts, with the Touring now $1805 less than in 2026 and the Limited’s price dropping by $1625.
  • The Outback also adds three new colors: Daybreak Blue Pearl, Snowfall White Silica, and Sand Dune Pearl, with that last one exclusive to the Wilderness model.

The Subaru Outback entered its seventh generation for the 2026 model year, but the new, boxier model has failed to maintain the sales of its predecessor. Through the third quarter, the Outback has found 104,759 buyers, down 10 percent year over year. But Subaru may have a way to get more Outbacks into the hands of customers. The automaker today announced pricing for the 2027 Outback, and a new base model drops the entry point by $1905 versus 2026, with a starting price of $34,540.

2026 Subaru Outback Touring.

The new Outback base model comes exclusively with the 180-hp 2.5-liter flat-four, hooked up to a continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The cabin is wrapped in black cloth and features the same 12.1-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster as other Outbacks. It also comes standard with heated front seats and heated side-view mirrors, wireless phone mirroring, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. Visually, the base model is distinguished by silver 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

Along with the base model, several other trims have gotten price cuts for 2027. That is not the case for the Outback Premium, which rises $95 to $36,540, thanks to a pricier destination charge for 2027. However, Subaru says that the option package that adds goodies including rain-sensing wipers, a power sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and a wireless smartphone charger now costs $225 less at $2045.

2026 Subaru Outback Touring.

The savings versus 2026 really begin with the Outback Limited, which now costs $41,540, a decrease of $1625. The Touring also gets a big cut, down by $1805. The Outback Limited XT, which is the least expensive way to get the 260-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter engine, now adds Subaru’s hands-free driving assistance system as standard. At $45,140, the Limited XT is $675 less than last year.

The lineup tops out with the Touring XT, which costs $48,140, a drop of $1305 versus 2026. Subaru also continues to offer the Outback in the off-road-ready Wilderness trim, which costs $905 less than last year at $45,540. The Outback Wilderness gets a new color for 2027 called Sand Dune Pearl, while the greater Outback lineup also adds Daybreak Blue Pearl and Snowfall White Silica exterior paint options. The 2027 Outback will reach dealerships later this year.
