ATD Names Michael Broderick Interim President

ATD Names Michael Broderick Interim President

American Tire Distributors (ATD) appointed Michael Broderick as interim president, effective immediately. Broderick succeeds Ira B. Silver. The company said it has parted ways with Silver.

Broderick serves on ATD’s board of directors and is an automotive aftermarket executive. He will support the leadership transition while the board searches for a permanent CEO. The board will consider internal and external candidates.

ATD Interim President Supports Leadership Transition

ATD said it remains active in the North American tire industry. The company cited its distribution network, customer relationships and portfolio of manufacturer and proprietary tire brands.

With support from its ownership group, ATD said it is focused on strengthening its market position. The company also plans to enhance operating performance and continue its long-term transformation.

During 2026, ATD said it worked to rightsize the business and invest in its national distribution network. The company said it eliminated more than $170 million in structural costs. ATD reinvested a portion of those savings.

The company plans further investments in its distribution network to serve customers and manufacturer partners.

Leadership Thoughts

“ATD has made important progress sharpening our focus on our core tire distribution business. We’ve improved operational efficiency and delivering outstanding service and value to our customers and partners. We determined that now is the right time to initiate a leadership transition,” said Philippe Gilbert, chairman of the board of directors of ATD. “Mike brings substantial experience leading complex automotive businesses. We are pleased that he is stepping in as Interim President to help us during this transition period. He will be supported by the ATD management team, which has played a central role in the Company’s operational transformation, providing continuity of leadership across its distribution operations and strategic initiatives. I would like to thank Ira for his leadership and contributions to help move the Company forward during a critical time.”

“I’m excited to step in and work alongside ATD’s team of talented associates as we focus on enhancing our network to provide customers with high-quality products and unparalleled service,” said Broderick. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the strength of the company’s robust national distribution network, deep customer and manufacturer relationships and long-held commitment to exceptional service. I look forward to advancing our efforts to strengthen our core tire distribution business.”
