FORVIA HELLA Wins German Sustainability Award 2027

FORVIA HELLA has won the German Sustainability Award 2027 in the Products category. The award recognizes the “Circular One Eco Headlamp” concept. The company developed the sustainable headlamp concept as part of the publicly funded NALYSES consortium. Project partners included BMW Group, Covestro, geba, Miele, the Heinz Nixdorf Institute of Paderborn University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Design Engineering IEM. Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences also participated.

The project’s results will inform the development of future headlamp generations and other products and applications.

FORVIA HELLA Headlamp Concept Focuses on Sustainability

The NALYSES research project concluded in June 2026 and resulted in the “One Circular Headlamp” concept. The project explored how manufacturers could design and produce future products with greater resource efficiency and lower emissions. Researchers used a headlamp as an example.

The German Sustainability Award 2027 recognizes the concept’s sustainable product design, material strategies, recycling options and use phase.

Compared with a conventional product, the headlamp concept can reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 50% over its entire life cycle. This includes materials, manufacturing, product use, reuse and recycling at the end of its service life.

Research Findings Could Shape Future Headlamp Design

“This award is an outstanding recognition of the commitment and joint efforts of everyone involved in the NALYSES consortium,” said Juan Manuel Mollà, managing director of lighting at FORVIA HELLA. “I would like to thank our team and project partners, whose expertise has helped generate important insights into more resource-efficient product design. The findings from the project make an important contribution to shaping future headlamp design and provide a valuable basis for further progress towards a climate-neutral value chain.”
