Genuine Parts Company reports 9% sales growth in Canada

Genuine Parts Company, the parent company of NAPA Auto Parts, reported a nine per cent increase in Canadian sales during the third quarter despite what the company described as softer market conditions.

The increase in sales in Canada was in local currency compared with the same quarter last year, while comparable sales rose one per cent. The company said its acquisition of Benson continued to support its Canadian performance, with financial and operational results tracking ahead of plan.

Company-wide, Genuine Parts Company reported sales of US$6.5 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 4.2 per cent from $6.3 billion a year earlier. Comparable sales increased 2.9 per cent, while acquisitions contributed 0.9 per cent.

“Our third quarter performance demonstrates the strength of our market leading businesses and our teams’ continued focus on serving customers and executing our strategic priorities,” said Will Stengel, chairman and chief executive officer. “We also achieved important milestones in our separation process and remain on track to launch GPC and Motion as two independent, leading companies in the first quarter of 2027.”

Net income was $224 million, down slightly from $226 million in the third quarter of 2025. Diluted earnings per share remained unchanged at $1.62.

Adjusted net income increased to $286 million, or $2.07 per diluted share, compared with $276 million, or $1.98 per diluted share, a year earlier.

North American Automotive Parts Group sales increased 2.2 per cent to $2.5 billion, driven by a 1.7 per cent increase in comparable sales and a 1.1 per cent contribution from acquisitions. Segment EBITDA declined 2.9 per cent to $194 million, while EBITDA margin fell 40 basis points to 7.6 per cent.

International Automotive Parts Group sales rose 4.5 per cent to $1.6 billion, while Industrial Parts Group sales increased 6.1 per cent to $2.4 billion.

For the first nine months of 2026, company-wide sales reached $19.3 billion, up 5.6 per cent from the same period last year. Net income declined to $641 million from $675 million, while adjusted net income increased to $827 million from $810 million.

Genuine Parts Company said it remains on track to separate its automotive and industrial businesses into two independent companies in the first quarter of 2027.
