The Ferrari Luce Costs $120,000 More Than A Purosangue And Has 12 Fewer Cylinders

October 23, 2026 · by APW Pipeline

Ferrari

Ferrari has caught a lot of flak for the all-electric Luce due to its un-Ferrari styling. Although we knew the Italian brand was working on an EV for several years, nothing could have prepared the automotive world for how this car’s styling. Anyone who wants to drive around in Ferrari’s road-going refrigerator had better sort out their finances, because it’s seriously expensive.

It’s now official that U.S. pricing for the Luce will start at $560,800. That’s much cheaper than in Europe, where prices start at €550,000, including VAT, and lower than early estimates suggesting it would start closer to $640,000. The good news is that is far less than the $40 million the first Luce sold for at auction this year, but in no way does this mean the Luce is affordable. In fact, the Luce is one of the highest-priced models in the Ferrari range.

With four doors and seating for more than two, the closest alternative to the Luce in the brand’s line-up is obviously the V12-powered Purosangue. It has a more conventional, low-slung SUV shape and actually looks like a Ferrari, rather than a computer mouse penned by iPhone designers. At $438,610, the Purosangue costs almost $200,000 more than the Lamborghini Urus, but compared to the Luce, it seems like a bargain. We’re not sure why someone would opt for a Luce over a Purosangue, but chances are, those buying Ferrari’s EV will already have a huge collection of models from the Italian brand, so the Luce might just be a simple addition to a large fleet.

The high price and odd styling didn’t scare off buyers

Ferrari

Even before this U.S. pricing was official, Ferrari announced that it had met its sales target for the Luce in just two months, locking in roughly 500 sales. The EV has proven a hit in China, although Ferrari hasn’t released a market-by-market sales breakdown. Just how many units Ferrari expects to sell in the U.S. remains to be seen. The Luce will almost certainly never be a big seller, however, with Ferrari apparently only planning to sell around 2,500 examples by 2030.

The Luce’s price tag is also rather shocking when compared to some of Ferrari’s supercars. Most notable is the 849 Testarossa. It has a raging twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and three electric motors that combine to produce 1,036 hp, and looks far more exotic than the Luce. It starts at $565,685. Then there’s the 12Cilindri with Ferrari’s beloved naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12. It starts at $468,594, or almost $100,000 less than the Luce. Admittedly, it can’t carry four people like the EV.
