These 6 New And Updated Acuras Could Be The Key To Its Future

Several new SUVs are on the horizon for the luxury brand

Acura wants to reclaim some of the magic it’s lost in the U.S. in recent years, and by 2030, it aims to sell 200,000 vehicles annually. To make this happen, it’s preparing several all-new and updated models and presented them to dealers last week. However, these models won’t arrive for two years.
One of the most important new models is a large, three-row SUV that will slot above the MDX in Acura’s line-up. It’s expected to be roughly six inches longer than the MDX and will share its underpinnings with the three-row SUV that Honda is developing, currently known as the ‘Pilot XXL.’ Acura will position its new model squarely against the Lexus TX.
As Acura confirmed last week, it also provided dealers with a preview of its ‘adventure-ready’ SUV. Initially, details about this model were limited, but after speaking with dealers, Auto News reported that it will be based on the Honda Passport TrailSport. It will use the same chassis as the Honda and hit the market with a unique design, ensuring it’s more than just a simple rebadge.
A new RDX and MDX are also in the works

Acura’s product plans don’t stop here, as dealerships have also previewed the next-generation RDX. It’s tipped to introduce a new design language for the company and will draw inspiration from the attractive SUV concept that Acura introduced in May. This will include sideways A-shaped LED taillights. Acura will base the new RDX on Honda’s next-generation hybrid architecture, which will cost 30% less to produce than its current system and provide a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency. To describe the new RDX as an important model for the brand would be doing it a disservice. If it proves popular, it alone could account for a decent chunk of the 200,000 vehicles that Acura hopes to sell.
A next-generation MDX is also in the works. It will replace the current model, which has been on sale since 2022, and will include similar design elements to the RDX. Dealerships were offered a glimpse of its design, but not the full vehicle. No timeline has been given for its launch, but it may not happen until 2029 or later. Acura is also working on less significant new products, including a limited-run Integra Type S with a distinctive paint scheme, and special versions of the current ADX and MDX. Although it’s an exciting time for Acura, one dealership says these new models will take about two years to reach showrooms.
