Kumho Expands OE Tire Fitments with Hyundai Waymo Fleet, Nissan Rogue and Frontier

Kumho Expands OE Tire Fitments with Hyundai Waymo Fleet, Nissan Rogue and Frontier

Kumho Tire U.S.A. expanded its original equipment (OE) portfolio in North America with new Hyundai and Nissan applications. The latest Kumho OE fitments include exclusive supply for Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles joining Waymo’s next-generation robotaxi fleet. The company supplies OE tires to more than 40 vehicle platforms across nine automotive brands in the region. Those brands include Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Audi and Volkswagen.

Kumho OE Fitments Include Hyundai Ioniq 5 Waymo Fleet

Waymo selected Kumho Tire U.S.A. as the exclusive OE tire supplier for Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles in its U.S. robotaxi fleet. Autonomous fleets require consistent tire performance over extended operating cycles. These demands place emphasis on durability, efficiency and ride comfort.

Kumho said it engineered the Crugen EV HP71 for high-utilization fleet demands and the performance needs of electric vehicles. It also supports tire maintenance schedules and automotive repair planning for fleet operators.

Expanded Nissan Fitments

Nissan named Kumho the OE tire supplier for select Rogue and Frontier models sold in North America. Nissan will equip the Rogue with Kumho Crugen HP71 all-season touring tires. The Frontier will use the new Kumho Road Venture HT all-season highway-terrain tires.

“We are excited to continue strengthening our OE partnerships through new fitments with both Nissan and Hyundai,” said Shawn Denlein, president of sales and marketing for Kumho Tire U.S.A. “The Crugen HP71 and its EV counterpart, along with the Road Venture HT, were engineered to deliver reliable, consistent performance for SUV and pick-up drivers. These selections reflect the confidence both Nissan and Hyundai place in KUMHO’s engineering and manufacturing expertise.”

Tire Features and Technology

Kumho said it designed the Crugen HP71 for CUV and SUV applications with a quiet, comfortable ride and year-round performance. Wide circumferential grooves and micro-serration technology target wet traction and hydroplaning resistance. An optimized tread construction is intended to support tread life and winter capability.

The Crugen EV HP71 builds on these features to accommodate heavier EVs and reduce rolling resistance. It also addresses instant torque delivery. Kumho’s K-Silent technology uses sound-absorbing foam and a noise-optimized tread pattern to help reduce cabin noise. Cabin noise is a key consideration in EVs.

Kumho said it designed the Road Venture HT for modern pickups and SUVs. The tire is intended to enhance wet and snow traction, extend tread life and provide a quiet ride.

The tire uses a next-generation polymer compound. Kumho said the compound delivers a 10% improvement in tread life compared with its predecessor. The Road Venture HT also carries Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certification for severe winter conditions. These features support tire maintenance and tire repair planning for all-season operation.
