Tructyre: From tyre replacement to long-term fleet performance – preview

Three months into her role as managing director of Tructyre, Elizabeth Nagel is already setting out her vision for the commercial vehicle tyre business. Having joined from Michelin’s global manufacturing operations, Nagel is focused less on “transformation” and more on what she describes as an evolution:

“The first thing I usually say when we talk about transformation is the term tends to refer to a consultant term…[for them] it only matters what comes off the page…[However] what happens is what’s most important…what changes in the reality…is what I thrive on. It’s about taking that potential and turning it into performance.”

“[Despite]…being a transformation officer, I hate the word transformation. It’s too consulting for me…What we’re doing at Tructyre is an evolution…it shouldn’t be this like big bang…There’s a lot of great things about Tructyre that our customers love. And of course, there’s things that we need to improve upon…our focus is going to be…on that execution side of it, of doing what we say we’re going to do.”

Another key theme of Nagel’s strategy is helping fleets extract greater value across the entire tyre lifecycle. Rather than focusing solely on the initial purchase price, she argues that operators should consider factors such as wear monitoring, maintenance, casing management and retreading. While Tructyre benefits from Michelin ownership, Nagel stresses that the company remains brand-agnostic, recommending the most appropriate solution for each customer’s needs.
