Dodge Charger Gets a Package Celebrating 90 Years of Mopar

- There has been an annual Mopar special edition from Stellantis since 2010. Here’s the latest, for the Dodge Charger.
- It’s mostly cosmetic upgrades, and production will be limited to 270 units total.
- There will be three colors available, and you can see it at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and then at this year’s SEMA show.
For the past decade and a half, a special Mopar limited-edition vehicle has hit the street, from Jeep Gladiators to Dodge Challengers. This year, it’s the six-cylinder Charger’s turn, and it’s celebrating a pretty special anniversary: 90 years of Mopar.
The Mopar ’27 package is available on coupe versions with turbocharged inline-six power, either the 420-hp R/T variant or the 550-hp Scat Pack Plus. Either starting point gets a host of upgrades including carbon-fiber front splitter and rear spoiler, a carbon-fiber hood with functional scoop, a cold-air intake system, a graphics package, and the expected limited-series plaque.
For both the R/T and Scat Pack, the additional package will set you back $10,995, and only 270 will be made for the North American market (27 for Canada and the lion’s share for the U.S.). They’ll be split evenly across three colors: Diamond Black, White Knuckle, and the delightfully silly-sounding Bludicrous.
All three are very much in-your-face treatments, but it’s not like the Charger is the shy and retiring type; it’s called the Charger, not the Mediator. Both are really quick off the line thanks to all-wheel-drive grip, and the Scat Pack is capable of putting down acceleration times that rival the original Challenger Hellcat.
Stellantis plans to show off these Mopar ’27 special editions first at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals drag races before of course placing them in its annual booth at SEMA. The show car will also have a few additional factory-authorized upgrades, such as performance springs, a free-flowing cat-back exhaust, and a set of massive 21-by-11-inch wheels.

Joining these Mopar special editions at SEMA will be a pair of Ram Rumble Bee pickups, one with as much as 900 supercharged horsepower. Three of the Easter Jeep Safari customs will also be there, and Jeep will also be showing off something it calls Ugly Sweater trail armor. Feel like dressing up your Wrangler for the Yuletide season? Go for it.
Mopar is a portmanteau of the words Motor and Parts, and originally it was just a brand name for Chrysler’s in-house antifreeze brand. Since 1937, it has grown into a catchall term for vehicles under the former Chrysler corporate umbrella as well as Stellantis’s genuine parts and accessories brand.
Celebrating nearly a century of heritage seems like as good a reason as any for a special-edition Charger. At least until we get that special-edition Dodge those Mopar fans are hollering for, one packing eight cylinders underhood.
