Giugiaro Dressed A Maserati In Copper And Glass

GFG Style
GFG Style, the Turin-based design studio created by Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro in 2015 after they left Italdesign, has presented a new coachbuilt project for a very special client. The Peralta S is a one-off creation made of hand-hammered copper covering Maserati bones. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the Peralta D is a follow up to the Peralta S from last year.
Both models were commissioned by Carlos Peralta, a Mexican businessman and a friend of the Giugiaro family, with the S dedicated to his sons and the D to his daughters. While the Peralta S was based on the mid-engined Maserati MC20 and had an aluminum body, the Peralta D dresses the 2+2 front-engined underpinnings of the GranTurismo in a copper body. According to GFG Style, copper is a “noble, malleable, and delicate material” and was entirely hammered by hand.
The one-off was unveiled at the 2026 Pastejé Automotive Invitational event on October 24 and is now part of Carlos Peralta’s collection. GFG Style didn’t share the cost, but one-offs penned by high-profile designers never come cheap.
Geometric harmony
The design follows the same principles with the previous coachbuilt special, featuring sharp lines and clean surfaces to create what Giugiaro calls “geometric harmony.” The model features full-width LED lights on both ends, a honeycomb pattern on the front bumper, fender-mounted mirrors, a hexagonal fuel cap and a discreet rear diffuser with quad tailpipes.
The greenhouse extends from the front wheel arches all the way to the angular tail, through a wedge-shaped roofline. The large glass surfaces are tinted in copper, while the retro-futuristic alloy wheels finished in anthracite black. In order to access the 2+2 cabin, the front canopy tilts forwards, with four gullwing doors creating extra openings.
The interior has many bespoke features, pairing the digital cluster and center console of the Maserati with an additional passenger display, a large vanity mirror with lights on the glovebox, and a champaign holder between the rear seats. The shiny gold/copper upholstery is combined with brown leather and contrasting stitching.
Maserati underpinnings

The bespoke body panels are supported by a carbon fiber structure and an aluminum chassis. GFG Style didn’t reveal the specifications, but the Maserati GranTurismo is fitted with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine producing either 483 hp (360 kW / 490 PS) or 543 hp (405 kW / 550 PS) depending on the variant. The donor vehicle is also available in fully electric form, but the tailpipes hint at the presence of a combustion engine under the long hood.
Fabrizio Giugiaro said: “The Peralta D was born from the positive energy and creative synergy established with Carlos Peralta during the development of the Peralta S. We wanted to build on that stylistic journey by exploring the expressiveness of a fascinating and complex material like copper. The challenge was to combine a minimalist aesthetic — characterized by clean lines and elegant details — with cutting-edge functional solutions to create a true 2+2 Gran Turismo coupe.”
