Tenneco Introduces Monroe Full Active Suspension Technology

Tenneco Introduces Monroe Full Active Suspension Technology

Tenneco’s Monroe Ride Solutions (MRS) business introduced full active suspension (FAS) technology for the global market. MRS develops advanced suspension systems and components for automotive, commercial truck, off-highway equipment and other applications. Two China-based automakers have already selected the new Monroe FAS actuator for upcoming models.

Tenneco Expands Active Suspension Technology

Active suspension technology enhances comfort and dynamic handling through real-time control of the vehicle body and wheels. The systems respond to driver input and changing road conditions. Unlike semi-active or adaptive suspensions, active systems independently control each wheel’s vertical movement to help optimize traction, stability and steering control.

The Monroe FAS actuator puts that capability into practice. It responds to complex road conditions within milliseconds, delivering active lifting and pressing forces at each wheel. The actuator also achieves independent wheel decoupling. These capabilities reduce body roll and pitch, improve road impact absorption and provide a more comfortable, controlled ride.

“The Monroe FAS actuator demonstrates our unique ability to anticipate and support the continuous innovation of China’s leading automakers as partners,” said Tony Zhou, general manager of MRS China. “This market-ready solution enables the nation’s new-energy vehicle manufacturers to excel in the development of increasingly intelligent and higher-performance vehicles that will appeal to millions of drivers in China and around the world.”

Monroe FAS Actuator Nears Production in China

MRS principally developed the Monroe FAS actuator at its R&D center in Beijing, with support from its global team. The actuator will soon enter production at the company’s manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China.

It builds on more than 15 years of success with MRS’s CVSA2 and Kinetic dampers and actuators in ultra-high-performance vehicles. Together with CVSAe, these semi-active technologies make up the Monroe Intelligent Suspension portfolio, which the new actuator expands.

OEMs worldwide, including several China-based automakers, use these technologies. Dozens of vehicles manufactured in China and other regions feature them.

Monroe FAS Actuator Receives Industry Recognition

The Monroe FAS actuator received the 2026 Gasgoo Award for Best Technology Application. Gasgoo, an automotive media and information services platform in China, presents the award. It recognizes innovation across the global mobility ecosystem.
