2027 BMW X3 M50 Adds Horsepower and a Sinister Appearance Package

October 28, 2026 · by APW Pipeline
  • The 2027 BMW X3 M50 xDrive is adding a new optional Black Package that gives the performance SUV a menacing look.
  • Regardless of whether you choose the Black Package or not, the X3 M50 now makes 437 horsepower, up 44 ponies compared with last year.
  • In addition to the appearance package and powertrain upgrades, every 2027 X3 will come with a revised interior.

The 2027 BMW X3 is adopting an ominous look thanks to a new optional Black Package. The limited-edition package will only be available for the 2027 X3 M50 xDrive.

The package comes with exclusive 22-inch Jet Black wheels, one inch larger than the wheels offered for the standard lineup. It also comes with gloss black brake calipers finished with a monochrome M logo. The high-gloss M logo is repeated around the X3 M50’s exterior and sports a silver outline to make the badges stand out against the dark backdrop.

Inside, Black Package-equipped X3s feature black Alcantara over the instrument panel, dashboard, center console, door trim, and around the wireless charger. The trim is finished in an aluminum-carbon mix, while the only pop of color is thanks to blue stitching and piping in the seats and the addition of the M colors on the seatbelts and floor mats.

Whether you’re a fan of the Black Package or not, the 2027 X3 M50 comes with updates that may pique your interest. That’s because every 2027 X3 M50 xDrive comes with 44 more horsepower than before and now makes 437 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six. Commensurate changes to the exhaust system should result in a better-sounding powertrain as well. BMW reports that the increase in power has resulted in a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds flat, though considering that we already achieved a 4.0-second run with the 393-horsepower version, we expect to beat BMW’s figure.

Aside from adding more power, every 2027 X3 comes with a slightly revised interior. Changes are mostly focused on cabin lighting, with new ambient lights added to the center console and interior door handles. There’s also a new glove-box handle and a softer-touch surface in front of the center screen.

The updated models will begin arriving in December of this year. Official pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect the X3 to start around $52,000 and the X3 M50 to start around $68,000.
