MANN-FILTER Wins 2027 German Design Award

October 28, 2026 · by APW Pipeline
MANN-FILTER Wins 2027 German Design Award

MANN-FILTER has won the German Design Award 2027, following its previous win in 2026. The company’s “Better cabin air filters. Made easy.” campaign won in the “Excellent Communications Design – Integrated Campaigns and Advertising” category.

The campaign highlights selected FreciousPlus cabin air filters that use recycled coconut-based activated carbon.

MANN-FILTER Campaign Highlights Sustainable Materials

Campaign ambassador Sammy the Squirrel helps explain the technical topic and draws attention to the more sustainable material solution. MANN-FILTER introduced Sammy last year alongside its lignin campaign. He has since become a recognizable feature of the brand’s sustainability campaigns.

The campaign uses a clean design and the brand’s signature yellow across digital channels, websites, trade magazines and trade shows.

“We are very pleased to receive this award once again,” says Mario Milinovic, MANN-FILTER brand manager. “It shows that technical innovation and responsible use of materials can be communicated clearly and attentively. Our campaign brings the product idea to a simple point while remaining unmistakably MANN-FILTER. With our creative agency FACT from Kirchheim/Teck, we have a partner at our side who understands our brand and effectively presents ideas. We would like to thank the entire team for this.”

Recycled Activated Carbon Maintains Filtration Performance

MANN-FILTER reprocesses and reuses activated carbon from production residues generated during its cabin air filter manufacturing process. The company uses the recovered material in selected FreciousPlus cabin air filters.

The recovered activated carbon replaces some of the new activated carbon traditionally used in these filters. This approach conserves natural raw materials and supports material recycling without changing filtration performance, quality or service life.

Campaign Emphasizes Simplicity

The campaign slogan “Better cabin air filters. Made easy.” emphasizes simplicity and practical benefits for workshops, retailers and vehicle owners. The campaign combines information about sustainable materials with straightforward messaging and distinctive design.

The German Design Award recognized the campaign’s combination of relevant content, clear communication and design.

“Good communication makes complex topics easy to understand,” Milinovic adds. “Sammy gives the campaign a strong visual anchor. In this way, we are drawing attention to a product innovation that works seamlessly in everyday life.”

Workshops and distributors will not need to change their existing processes. The filters remain available as standard production products, with no additional part numbers or logistics changes required.

About the German Design Award

The German Design Council presents the German Design Award annually. The international competition recognizes projects for their design quality, innovation and relevance.
