The Jeep Gladiator Has Just Become An Even More Capable Off-Roader

The Jeep Gladiator is already a very capable off-roader, and now, it promises to be even better. As part of the updated 2027 Gladiator model, Jeep has unveiled a new version dubbed the 35-inch Tire Launch Edition. The name leaves a lot to be desired, though this model certainly has all the makings of a serious performer. The limited-production package is available for the Gladiator Willys, Rubicon, and Rubicon X models and comes standard with 17-inch bronze-painted beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires.

The new wheel and tire package is supported by a 1-inch factory suspension lift, boosting the Gladiator’s approach and departure angles to 46.7 degrees and 26.7 degrees, respectively. The breakover angle has also been improved to 23.3 degrees. While we would argue the Gladiator is a little too long for some tight trails, these improvements will definitely be helpful for more open off-roading adventures. In addition, it comes equipped with performance brakes, heavy-duty Dana axles at the front and rear, a 4.56 final drive ratio, and a full-time 4:1 transfer case.

Jeep’s familiar Pentastar V6 remains

The 35-inch Tire Launch Edition package doesn’t include upgrades to the Gladiator’s engine, meaning it retains the familiar naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, working alongside an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, the package does bring with it several visual upgrades beyond the wheels and tires. These include highline fender flares and wheel arch extensions, a performance hood, bronze Jeep badging and accents, graphics for the hood, side, and tailgate, and bronze tow hooks. Gladiator Rubicon models equipped with the package get their own distinctive hood and vent graphics.

“Gladiator customers continue to personalize their vehicles to tackle bigger adventures, and 35-inch tires have consistently been one of the most popular modifications,” Jeep CEO Branden Coté said. “The Gladiator 35-inch Tire Launch Edition gives customers the capability, confidence and distinctive look they want straight from the factory, backed by the quality and engineering expected from the Jeep brand.” The automaker has not said how many examples of the special package it will produce or how much it’ll cost.
