Stellantis has begun production of Leapmotor vehicles at Stellantis’ plant in Zaragoza, Spain, according to an Oct. 16 press release.

The move is the result of an ever-closer collaboration between the two companies, which in 2023 launched Leapmotor International as a joint venture to market Leapmotor vehicles outside of China. Stellantis owns 51% of the joint venture along with the exclusive rights to sell and manufacture Leapmotor products outside of China, while Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co. owns the other 49% stake, according to a May 2026 press release.

Leapmotor’s B10 SUV, which is available in Europe as both an all-electric vehicle and a gasoline range-extended series hybrid, is now rolling off Zaragoza’s assembly line destined for Stellantis’ dealership network across the wider European region.

Spanish production of the car could allow it to qualify for the European Union’s “Made in Europe” regulations promoting domestic auto production and jobs.

Indeed, production at Zaragoza will see the B10 exploit extra vehicle production capacity at the plant, the Stellantis statement said.

This collaboration sits within Stellantis’ FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, and “embodies a win-win partnership built on complementary strengths”, said the company.

The B10 joins Zaragoza’s assembly line that currently produces the Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208 and Lancia Ypsilon.

“The electric transition must also be an industrial transition. If our partnership is the strategy, Zaragoza is the proof that we can combine global technology, competitiveness and European industrial capabilities,” said Stellantis representative Silvia Vernetti in a company statement.

“Our roots are in China and our ambition is global,” said Jiangming Zhu, Leapmotor founder and president in the statement. “Europe is a strategic part of that ambition and producing in Zaragoza allows us to bring our technology closer to European markets and customers,” he added.
