Valvoline Global Expands Mechanics Training Program in Mexico

Valvoline Global Operations announced the expansion of its flagship social responsibility program, “Mecánicos del Mañana” (Aspiring Mechanics), across Mexico. The announcement coincides with Mexico City’s Formula One race weekend.

Valvoline Global launched the program with a five-year, $1 million global investment announced in 2025. The initiative addresses the automotive industry’s skilled labor shortage, which could reach a global deficit of 4.3 million mechanics by 2030.

The program aims to benefit more than 10,000 aspiring technicians worldwide through academic scholarships, tool donations and direct community engagement.

Valvoline Global Supports Mexican Students

Valvoline Global is marking the program’s first anniversary and highlighting its continued partnership with Escuela Mexicana de Electricidad (EME).

Through this collaboration, eight EME students have received academic scholarships and opportunities to participate in hands-on training sessions. These sessions take place alongside the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.

The program provides students with firsthand experience in Formula One garage operations and technical workflows.

Students also receive mentorship from industry figures, including Miguel Faísca, head of esports at the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. Another mentor is Ivanna Richards, a Mexican motorsport driver recognized as a TIME Young Talent.

Additionally, the initiative provides specialized equipment and a competition-grade go-kart to support practical learning throughout the academic year.

Addressing Mexico’s Technician Shortage

The shortage of technical personnel presents a global challenge, particularly in Mexico, where the automotive industry plays a major economic role.

The “Mecánicos del Mañana” program connects traditional technical education with Formula One motorsport practices. The initiative aims to strengthen students’ technical skills and improve their employment opportunities across Mexico.

Highlighting Student Experiences

Throughout the weekend, Valvoline Global plans to share highlights from the students’ experiences across its social media and digital channels.

The content will feature interactions between industry experts and students, firsthand accounts from EME participants and program success stories.
