Acura Needs To Build And Sell A Wild ADX Just Like This

November 2, 2026 · by APW Pipeline

The one-off concept is a collaboration with Vans

With a sharp, sporty design and a turbocharged four-cylinder, the Acura ADX is a solid package. Last year, Acura sold 20,133 units across the United States, far below the 41,460 MDXs sold, so Acura may want to spruce up the ADX if it wants to boost sales. One way to do this would be bringing some of the wild modifications featured on the one-off ADX CZ-77 Concept into production, though we’re not getting our hopes up.

This bespoke ADX has been built in partnership with Vans athlete Coco Zurita and leans into tuning culture and the world of BMX bikes. It makes the ADX look more striking without going overboard, and uses the fabric found in Vans shoes. While the special ADX looks fitting of a Type R or Type S badge, it doesn’t have any major mechanical upgrades.

Most of the design team’s efforts have been focused on transforming the SUV’s look. They’ve done this by fitting a custom carbon fiber splitter and a set of flared wheel arches at the front and rear. The ADX also includes distinctive side skirts, motorsport-inspired wing mirrors, a rear diffuser, and a custom exhaust. As Zurita is best known as a BMX rider, the Acura also includes a section in the cargo area to store and display a bike. Other tweaks include a rear bar, black graphics, and Rotiform aero disc wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sport V105 tires.

Acura is working on a special ADX you can buy

The interior also differs significantly from a standard ADX, with racing seats and a steering wheel from Sparco, custom red upholstery, a racing harness, rear-seat delete, and white and black checkered fabric. If only this ADX was fitted with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the Honda Civic Type R and Acura Integra Type S.

Acura is investing heavily in a lineup of new and refreshed SUVs in the U.S. The two most significant models are a three-row flagship SUV to slot above the MDX and a new adventure-ready SUV based on the Honda Passport TrailSport. Though an all-new ADX isn’t in the cards, CarScoops recently reported that a host of updated Acura SUVs are in the works, including the ADX. We doubt this will be a version that shares a resemblance to the CZ-77 Concept, as a more obvious addition to the ADX lineup would be a hybrid model that could share its powertrain with the Honda Civic Hybrid.
