Jiangsu General plans Egypt tyre plant and Cambodia expansion

Jiangsu General Science Technology plans to build a third overseas tyre factory in Egypt and expand its existing plant in Cambodia. The two projects, which the Chinese tyre maker’s board approved on 29 October, would add a combined capacity for 8 million tyres a year. The Egypt project is the larger of the two investments, at US$295 million, and will give Jiangsu General a manufacturing base in the Suez Canal Economic Zone with annual capacity for 6 million semi-steel and 800,000 all-steel radial tyres.
