Pirelli selects softer compounds and navigates new asphalt for São Paulo Grand Prix

Pirelli has announced its tyre selection for the São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, opting for a softer trio than last season: the C3 as Hard, C4 as Medium, and C5 as Soft. The strategy shift comes alongside recent track modifications, with resurfacing work completed between Turns 3–5 and Turns 8–9. Teams will use practice sessions to evaluate how the fresh asphalt impacts grip, track evolution, and tyre degradation over longer stints.
Tyre management remains critical at the flowing José Carlos Pace circuit, which places balanced lateral loads on both axles. Last season’s event favoured a two-stop strategy, with the Medium and Soft compounds dominating race stints. However, the track’s frequent weather shifts, rain risks, and temperature fluctuations mean Intermediate and Wet tyres could easily come into play.
Off the track, Pirelli introduced a special-edition Podium Cap designed by Denis Dekovic. Inspired by the blue jersey worn by Brazil’s 1958 World Cup-winning football team, the cap features a jaguar-pattern motif and is now available via Pirelli’s online store.
Interlagos has hosted 42 Grands Prix to date, with Michael Schumacher holding the record for the most victories (four), while Ferrari and McLaren lead the constructor standings with nine wins each.
