Bennie Skelton Named 2026 WIX Filters Counter Professional of the Year

WIX Filters and Counterman have named Bennie Skelton of Crow-Burlingame’s Bumper to Bumper store in Neosho, Missouri, the 2026 Counter Professional of the Year. Skelton brings more than four decades of parts experience to the counter, building customer relationships that now extend across generations. His career reflects a commitment to helping customers and a determination to overcome challenges.

Skelton entered the parts field in 1980 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During 12 years of service, he learned to identify parts using microfiche and paper catalogs, measure engine components and supervise military and civilian personnel. While stationed in California, he worked weekends at an auto parts story after leaving the Air Force in 1992. Skelton joined Crow-Burlingame in 2009.

“Bennie has great customer service and has a lifetime of knowledge,” said Darren Brewer, manager of the Neosho store. “I don’t have to tell him to do something when he sees it needs to be done, he does it. He’s the best man I’ve ever worked with. ”

Brewer credits Skelton with helping strengthen the store’s financial performance and praised his initiative, sales ability and perseverance.

In 2012, Skelton suffered a major stroke that affected his speech and the use of his right side. He spent months relearning how to walk and talk, adapting to perform tasks left-handed. Today, he continues building hydraulic hoses, pulling parts and completing paperwork while serving the customers he knows so well.

Established in 1986, Counter Professional of the Year recognizes excellence among automotive aftermarket parts professionals. WIX Filters has sponsored the program since 2006.
