Astemo to Invest Over $11 Million in Muncie Operations

Astemo plans to invest more than $11 million in its Muncie, Indiana, manufacturing operations. The program includes additional injection molding capacity and a new assembly line for intake manifolds. The line will support internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications.

Astemo Receives Tax Abatement for Expansion

Astemo Americas vice president of operations Alejandro Navarro Lopez noted that the Muncie City Council recently approved a five-year tax abatement.

“We appreciate the support of the Economic Development Alliance and the Muncie community,” Lopez said. “This partnership reinforces Astemo’s commitment to investing in Muncie, supporting our employees and driving long-term growth.”

Lopez added that interested applicants can visit Astemo’s careers website to apply for jobs and view current employment opportunities.

Company Develops Mobility Technologies

Astemo develops technologies and products focused on safe, sustainable and comfortable mobility. The company develops software-defined vehicle (SDV), autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (AD/ADAS), advanced chassis and powertrain solutions. It serves automotive and motorcycle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide.

“Astemo’s decision to expand its Muncie operation speaks to the strength of this facility, its workforce and our community,” said Traci Lutton, vice president of economic development for the Economic Development Alliance of Muncie-Delaware County. “Manufacturing companies with national and global footprints continually evaluate where to place future production and investment. We’re grateful Astemo continues to choose Muncie and Delaware County, and we’re proud to support a company that has demonstrated such a long-term commitment to our community.”

Astemo established its Muncie facility in 1999. The facility employs approximately 188 people, nearly 70% of whom live in Muncie.
