Apollo Tyres’ India Plants Earn Five-Star Safety Rating

Apollo Tyres’ five manufacturing units in India have received the British Safety Council’s Five-Star Rating and Sword of Honour 2026. These awards recognize the company’s occupational health and safety management systems and sustained safety culture.

The recognition reflects the company’s focus on strengthening health and safety practices, maintaining operational discipline and ensuring employee well-being. It also highlights the company’s commitment to safety across its manufacturing operations. The recognition underscores processes that support safe facilities for tire manufacturing, quality control and related operations.

British Safety Council Audit Criteria

The British Safety Council’s Five-Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit comprehensively assesses an organization’s policies, processes and practices. The evaluation examines occupational health and safety management indicators through documentation reviews, stakeholder interviews and operational activity sampling.

Achieving this recognition across all five Indian manufacturing units highlights workforce participation in building a safe workplace. Safety performance supports consistent production, equipment uptime and compliant shop-floor procedures. These procedures inform tire maintenance, wheel alignment, balancing and TPMS service standards in downstream automotive repair environments.

Executive Statements

Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Chief Manufacturing and Sustainability Officer, Apollo Tyres Ltd, said, “Safety is a core value at Apollo Tyres and integral to everything we do. The recognition of all five of our manufacturing plants in India by the British Safety Council reflects our collective commitment to high standards of health and safety. While this achievement is a matter of pride, we remain focused on continuous improvement and fostering a culture where everyone takes ownership of safety and returns home safe every day.”

Peter McGettrick, Chairman of British Safety Council, said, “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Apollo Tyres on achieving the highest standards of its health and safety management. Achieving recognition of this sort takes absolute dedication and the utmost professionalism. We are proud to support you in your achievements and delighted we can contribute to your ongoing success.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council, added: “I would like to congratulate Apollo Tyres and its staff on this award, in tribute to their commitment to keeping their workplace safe and healthy and contributing to safeguarding the environment. All of the Sword award-winning organisations share a commitment and willingness to achieve the uppermost standards of health and safety. We thank Apollo Tyres for contributing to achieving our vision that no one should be injured or made ill through their work.”

Ongoing Safety Focus

Apollo Tyres said it views safety excellence as a continuous journey. The company continues to adapt to an evolving workforce and changing operating environments. It remains focused on strengthening safety practices, reinforcing awareness and embedding a proactive safety culture across its operations.
