- The Tesla Cybertruck’s production will come to an end next year.
- The news comes via a post by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on his personal X account.
- Tesla introduced the Cybertruck as a 2024 model, and its sales have continuously fallen short of the company’s expectations.
The Tesla Cybertruck will soon meet its maker, per a post by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on his personal X account. Though it was first shown as a prototype in 2019, the Cybertruck ultimately materialized in production form for the 2024 model year.
According to Musk’s post, “production of the Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of next year,” indicating that the 2027 model year will be its last. Admittedly, it’s possible production moves elsewhere. This seems unlikely, though, given the middling sales figures of the model, which continue to fall far short of the annual 250,000-unit production figure predicted early on by Musk.

Of course, the battery-powered pickup’s high price didn’t help its cause. Currently, Tesla’s limiting Cybertruck orders to the north of $90,000 Premium All-Wheel Drive and the six-figure Cyberbeast trims. The more than $80,000 Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive variant remains listed on the Tesla site, indicating the automaker may open orders for that variant again before production ends.
