VIPAR Heavy Duty Recaps IMPACT Conference

The VIPAR Heavy Duty Family of Companies brought its network together for the 2026 IMPACT Conference. A new format encouraged deeper collaboration, generated ideas and aligned distributors, suppliers and business partners around future opportunities. The conference took place in mid-October at the JW Marriott Marco Island in Florida.
VIPAR Heavy Duty Opens Conference with Innovation Focus
Monday’s Distributor Welcome & Kickoff featured entrepreneur, author and speaker Kyle Scheele. His presentation, “Becoming an Idea Factory: How to Build a Culture Where Innovation Is Inevitable,” challenged attendees to rethink problem-solving and leadership. He also discussed creating environments where ideas can thrive.
Scheele encouraged attendees to capture ideas, create trusted processes for developing them and provide room for experimentation. He also urged leaders to protect early concepts from premature dismissal.
“It doesn’t matter what the system is. What matters is that it exists, that your team trusts it, and that ideas put into it can find a home. Your job as a leader is to give your team the goal: here’s the problem, here are the constraints, now bring me ideas,” said Scheele.
That message carried into the rest of the opening day. Distributor roundtables featured discussions about the challenges and opportunities facing independent heavy-duty aftermarket distributors. Attendees explored priorities including technology, data, workforce recruiting, AI, training, order fulfillment and delivery, and parts procurement.
Later, distributors rotated through focus groups where they shared input on group initiatives. Topics included supplier programs, PARTSPHERE innovation, data tools, fleet opportunities and VIPAR Heavy Duty’s partnership with NEXUS Automotive International in Latin America.
Conference Brings Full Network Together
For the first time, the conference opened with a day dedicated specifically to distributors. The programming included interactive sessions, roundtable discussions and direct feedback on priorities affecting independent distributors and the broader heavy-duty aftermarket.
On day two, the format expanded to include distributors, suppliers, business partners and associates. The first shared general session brought the entire network together to hear organizational priorities and discuss opportunities for closer collaboration.
Leaders emphasized that each part of the network brings a different perspective. They also discussed how connecting those viewpoints can produce better insights, stronger relationships and new opportunities.
“The strength of this network is not found in any one company. It is created when all of our perspectives come together,” said Jeff Paul, executive vice president.
Network Leaders Outline Growth Priorities
General session presentations highlighted several strategic priorities for continued growth. These included expansion across the Americas, stronger supplier engagement and continued investment in training and product information.
Other priorities included technology, responsible data sharing, expanded sales channels and a renewed focus on fleets and end users.
Chris Baer, president and CEO of the VIPAR Heavy Duty Family of Companies, outlined a regional approach to network development. His strategy covers the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Baer emphasized finding the right partners for sustainable growth rather than simply expanding distribution.
“Our next stage of growth will come from strong partners, bold ideas, and the discipline to turn those ideas into results,” said Baer.
The week also included IMPACT Conference traditions such as the trade show, scheduled one-on-one distributor-supplier meetings and networking activities. These events provided additional opportunities to discuss products, business priorities and potential partnerships.
Alex Rodriguez Shares Leadership Lessons
Thursday’s keynote featured Alex Rodriguez, who drew on his baseball career, business ventures and personal experiences. He discussed preparation, humility, accountability and continuous learning.
Rodriguez connected building a winning sports team with developing a successful organization. He emphasized the importance of clear vision, capable people and alignment around shared goals.
He also challenged leaders to recognize their blind spots and remain accountable for mistakes. Rodriguez encouraged them to embrace learning when entering unfamiliar fields.
“There’s no greater investment than investing in yourself,” said Rodriguez, encouraging them to continue developing their communication, writing, and other skills and to keep learning throughout their careers.
Conference Sets Stage for Future Collaboration
Throughout the 2026 IMPACT Conference, participants emphasized the value of sharing knowledge, developing ideas and pursuing common opportunities.
The VIPAR Heavy Duty Family of Companies plans to continue developing programs and supporting independent distributors and supplier partners. The organization also intends to build on its collaborative approach as it prepares for future growth.
The 2027 VIPAR Heavy Duty Family of Companies IMPACT Conference will take place Oct. 17-22 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.
